Production Of Tupac Biopic To Start In 2014...

Click for Full Image SizeAll is almost set for the production of the biopic on late American rapper, Tupac Shakur, to begin in 2014 by movie makers Morgan Creek Productions and Emmett/Furla Films.

The film was put back into production after a long legal battle between the rapper's mother, Afeni Shakur, and Morgan Creek.

Afeni Shakur originally demanded extensive creative control before signing over the rights to her son's music and story, but she was sued by Morgan Creek for continuing to negotiate after the deal was completed.

Afeni Shakur then countersued Morgan Creek, saying there was no deal. The two parties reached a settlement before the disagreement went to trial in 2011. The rapper's mother is now an executive producer on Tupac.

Though Morgan Creek and Emmett/Furla Films say the film will focus on Tupac's life, there's no word on who will direct the project or portray the slain rapper in the film.

Tupac Shakur, known by his stage name 2Pac, was an American rapper. Shakur has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists in the world.

Most of 2pac's songs are about growing up amid violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, other social problems and conflicts with other rappers during the East Coast-West Coast hip hop rivalry. Shakur was shot and killed in Las Vegas, Nevada, in 1996.
